Location. Location. Location.
Travel inspires me to write. There is something about the sensation of foreign locations that goads my imagination and lets me slip away into story.
I took my first international trip at four when my family moved to Japan for a year. Since then, traveling has been a way of life. I moved on my own to London when I was 19 and then to Australia four years later. After five years in Sydney, I finally came back to California. Still, I have the travel bug bad so I make a point to get out of the country as much as time and money will afford.
My current manuscript, HIDDEN, was inspired by a single week I spent in Iceland 5 years ago. I was so enchanted with the stark wilderness and strange stories of the Hidden People that 2 years later I began writing a story about a girl who falls into another world.
